Maisy's practice depicts the relationship between interior and exterior realities and the way we shape and overlap memories. The paintings draw on personal experiences and the complexities of youth. Patterns and mountainous landscapes run through her work, tying each piece to the nostalgic upbringing in the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) North Wales. The paintings capture a space between dream and reality and the way we hold on to the the romanticism of a place and a moment that shapes our personalities and our connections to others. Using a painterly style with washes of colour and layered gestural brush strokes, this current body of work is rooted in an unfolding narrative of intertwined relationships and an ever developing perception of self.
